Chinon, city of art and history, is located 50 km from Tours and stands out above all for its cobbled streets and imposing castle ruins. Chinon is the ideal starting point to explore the three regions of Touraine, Poitou and Anjou, which meet here, and also to experience the impressive castles and their gardens in the Loire Valley, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nearby you have good opportunities to actively spend your free time with games, fun and sports. The castle towering high above the city, religious buildings from the Romanesque era, museums, boat trips on the Vienne River, as well as cycling tours on the popular cycling route along the Loire River await you. Many exciting events take place throughout the year, such as a wine festival in April, the jazz festival in June, an evening farmers' market in July, the medieval market on the first Saturday in August or the 19th century style market on the third Saturday in August. Not far from the old town and the castle, the complex benefits from a beautiful hillside location surrounded by vineyards on the right bank of the Vienne River.
