Set back from the road that runs through the tiny hamlet of Hamalevriou, this wonderfullly renovated old mill is in the heart of the village, yet with a peaceful, pretty garden and swimming pool. An elegant whitewashed three storeys accommodation, it has plenty of space to spread out and relax, especially for large groups with landscaped grounds and views of the countryside. Great care has been taken to keep so many of the original features including the stone clad interior walls and the tradtional Cretan archway in the main living area. It mixes sophisticated and rustic charm with a very large ground floor living and dining areas and a smart modern kitchen completely at home with old style artifacts that are displayed throughout the villa, with a ground floor double bedroom. On the first floor there is a twin bedroom, and 2 double bedrooms both with patio doors opening onto a prviate balcony , and the master bedroom has a jacuzzi style bathtub and overhead shower whilt the other has a shower room. Below the main house, there is a studio-type annexe perfect for those wanting a little more privacy from the main house,with external access and a neat kitchenette, seating area and a shower room and it opens onto the magnificent gardens that suround the larger than average swimming pool, and there are steps and a ramp from the villa down to the swimming pool and terrace. A covered dining area sits next to the barbecue and the tempting sun loungers around the pool ensure some holiday reading whilst cooling off with a dip in the pool.At the end of the land is a pretty lawned area just for decoration where guests can gaze out at the breataking vistas of the hills and dales with the sea in the distance, wonderful in the evenings. The village has one popular taverna definitely worth trying out, and further afield, Stavromenos village and beach are a 5 minute drive away, with supermarkets, shops and cafe bars as well as a good selection of eateries.
