Arles is famous for its bullfight festivals, the so-called Férias. On these festive days, its first-century arena is the scene of bullfights. Rich in history and culture, the city has attracted many great writers and painters over the years, such as Picasso and Gauguin. Arles is especially worth seeing for its distinguished 16th and 17th century townhouses and its Roman buildings, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
